After I decided to set up The Balloon Kid my mum thought it would be a good idea to set up an Instagram account so I could share photos of my creations. It's been great for having a record of the things we have created. We'll often watch a tutorial, make the balloon, then post a photo - it's nice to get feedback on different things we post. Instagram is also a great source of inspiration, as you can search for "balloon twisting" and find so many interesting creations and people to follow. I find it fun to look at a photo and to try to figure out how it was made for myself.
Other times we just decide to make something - like when my brother Charlie said "make me a rat", so my mum created a "rat hat", or when we brainstormed something to make and decided on "popcorn" - it took us a while to figure out for ourselves how to make a popcorn bucket, and while maybe it could have been tidier to be "Insta-worthy" but it's still great to have a photo of it on Instagram to remind us of the challenge we set ourselves.
Our Instagram feed comes in handy when we're at parties, as we can reference back to previous creations when a request comes in for something we don't make often - sometimes you just need a reminder of what something looks like and you can remember the right twists to create the design.
